The book "Třebel 1647. A Battlefield of the Thirty Years' War from the Perspective of History, Archeology, Art-history, Geoinformatics, and Ethnology" deals with a military clash between the Swedish and Habsburg Armies that took place under Třebel Castle in Western Bohemia from August 18th to September 5th, 1647. Since the 17th century, the landscape of the battlefield has remained almost completely unchanged. Seven remnants of field fortifications remain intact on the former battlefield. Field research of this battlefield took place, with several breaks, from 1988 to 2017. The book is the second modified publication of archeologist and historian Václav Matoušek's book "Třebel. Image of a Landscape with Battlefield", published by Academia Publishing House. All issues of the first publication were sold out. Therefore, the author reacted to Czech and international readers' interest in the field research of the battlefields of the Thirty Years' War in the Czech lands by printing a second publication. The current English language publication summarizes the results of field study and incorporates the battle into broader social, political, and military contexts of the end of the Thirty Years' War. Much attention is also paid to the thorough analysis of two engravings of the battle first published in Frankfurt by the Matthäus Merian Publishing House in 1652 in the 6th volume of the publishing work Theatrum Europaeum. A special chapter is devoted to summarizing the results of the experimental construction of a replica of one of the Imperial Army's field fortifications. The book also contains a comprehensive Czech conclusion.
